The BVTB-2A is the world's smallest portable 4-input field switcher currently in production, and it's equally at home on shoots and in satellite trucks. Operationally, this switcher is of the conventional programme/preview configuration, but has two additional switched auxiliary outputs, thus offering 4x4 routing facilities. The features include take (cross-cut), auto/manual mix and wipe and auto fade to black. The auto functions are variable in the range 0 - 5 seconds. All outputs are broadcast specification.
The BVTB-2A runs from a nominal 12V d.c. (actual 10 - 18V) via a standard XLR connector, and its low current consumption makes it ideal for battery powering; typically a BP-90 will give in excess of 12 hours continuous use. PAL/NTSC switching is installed, and the BVTB-2A is shipped with a universal power supply (90-263V a.c.). |
For stand-alone operation, input 1 is defined as the sync source. Other sources are genlocked via the black and burst outputs derived from input 1. There is also a external reference input, and the connection of a composite signal at this point will cause the BVTB-2A to switch over automatically, allowing the user to lock the switcher to an external reference. Should the external reference fail for any reason, the switcher will revert to input 1 syncs without significant interruption to the programme output.
The GPI port offers open collector tally outputs, which will operate external devices such as tally lights to a limit of 60V at 500mA. Access to triggers for the take and fade to black functions and bus selection are also available at this connector. |
