The VA6842 is a system interface designed to allow the connection of two computer video sources to a scan-rate compatible monitor or projector. It is compatible with VGA thru UXGA, MAC, SUN, SGI, and other analog computer video sources. The VA6842 offers three switching modes: manual via front panel control, auto-switching, and remote switching using a contact closure control.
The VA6842 also provides buffered Local Monitor outputs for each input with several operating modes available. For example, each Local Monitor output can be set to display only the respective Inputs or Local Monitor 1 can be set to display the selected source (same as main output), enabling the system to use only a single local monitor for both inputs.
With 16-position equalization controls for the Red, Green, and Blue video components of the main output, the VA6842 can compensate for losses caused by long cable runs. When used with super high-resolution coaxial cable, it can equalize cable lengths up to 300 feet.
The VA6842 is capable of passing balanced (or unbalanced) stereo audio, offering inputs on a 3.5mm stereo mini jacks, local outputs on a 3.5mm stereo mini jacks, and a main output on a 5-pin terminal block type connector.
The VA6842 offers optional remote Horizontal Positioning control features for each input. This is designed for use with an snap-in type connector with a potentiometer and a 6-foot extension cable (ALTINEX model SN1307-HP-B).
Interface cables for the VA6842 must be ordered separately. Please see Interface Accessories for more info.
