Designed to handle the new DVI (Digital Visual Interface) digital computer video standard, the SW1000DV accepts a two DVI-D (digital only) inputs and allows switching between them to a single DVI-D output. The DVI standard is becoming quite common on many digital flat panel displays and projection systems and provides superior image quality because it eliminates the typical signal degradation caused by digital to analog and analog to digital conversion.
The SW1000DV offers a "single link," making it compatible with VGA thru SXGA signal resolutions and UXGA at 60 Hz refresh rate. The DVI standard presents a cable length limitation of approximately 15 feet. Although each output of the SW1000DV is buffered, this distance limitation still applies on the output. The total system length (including the input cable) is limited to approximately 25 feet.
In addition to passing DVI-D type signals, the SW1000DV also passes stereo audio signals, providing two 3.5mm stereo mini input jacks, a 3.5mm local monitor jack, and a balanced stereo audio output on a 5 pin terminal block.
Control of the switching between inputs can be made manually via the front panel or the SW1000DV can be set into auto-switching mode, allowing the active input to be selected automatically. The SW1000DV can also be controlled remotely, through the use of a latching contact closure.
To connect the SW1000DV to the computer and displays, ALTINEX offers both male to male DVI-D cables and DVI-D + Audio Cables in lengths of 3, 6 and 12 feet.
